Estimated creatinine clearance

Creatinine Clearance Calculator using Cockcroft-Gault

Estimate creatinine clearance for medication dosing with the Cockcroft-Gault equation using age, sex, weight, and serum creatinine.

Cockcroft-Gault CrCl calculator

Use this calculator when a prescribing reference asks for Cockcroft-Gault creatinine clearance rather than eGFR. ClinFuse defaults serum creatinine to µmol/L and converts internally for the published equation.

years

kg

Creatinine clearance

78 mL/min

Cockcroft-Gault estimate for medication dosing contexts.

Creatinine used internally

0.96 mg/dL

Converted from µmol/L when selected.

Equations used on this page

CrCl (mL/min) = ((140 - age) × weight kg × sex factor) / (72 × serum creatinine mg/dL)
Sex factor = 0.85 for female and 1 for male. ClinFuse converts creatinine from µmol/L to mg/dL by dividing by 88.4.

Clinical notes

Cockcroft-Gault estimates creatinine clearance and is not the same as CKD-EPI eGFR normalized to 1.73 m².

For obesity, frailty, amputees, and oedema, dosing references may recommend ideal, adjusted, or measured body weight rather than actual weight.

Use the renal-function method specified by the medication label, local formulary, or specialist advice.
