Equations used on this page

HEART = History (0–2) + ECG (0–2) + Age (0–2) + Risk factors (0–2) + Troponin (0–2).
Age: <45 years = 0, 45–64 years = 1, ≥65 years = 2. Risk factors: none = 0, 1–2 = 1, ≥3 or known atherosclerotic disease = 2. Troponin uses multiples of the local upper reference limit.

Clinical notes

HEART supports risk stratification for patients presenting with chest pain; it does not replace serial ECGs, serial troponins, or clinician judgement.

Typical categories are 0–3 low risk, 4–6 moderate risk, and 7–10 high risk.

Use local acute coronary syndrome pathways and assay-specific troponin interpretation.
